Noise in the Background

My life is too full of difficult things right now, mostly related to my older son.

My struggles with weight and attempts at integrating intuitive eating into the basic fabric of who I am are just noise in the background. Since I am not a morbidly obese binge eater but rather a slightly chunky, frustratingly arthritic, very short but otherwise ordinary person, I really have to put this weight thing on the back burner.

I remain in admiration of all of you fighting the good fight. I just can't connect right now.

  1. Hi Wendy. I've been absent myself in blogland for the last couple of weeks due to just persistent very low mood. So I understand not being able to connect right now.

Weight/ eating is NOT the only thing in life and if it was the number one thing in your mind the whole time, there'd be something really wrong.

I hope your mental and emotional energies are being well deployed in whichever direction they are most needed right now.

Remember to give yourself a break from the stress now and then - even 5 mins designated "brain switch off" time can make a huge difference.

    Hope the difficulties pass quickly.

  3. You've got to do what is best for you! Needing a break and making sure you take it is a necessary thing at times. I've been a lot quieter lately because it's just what i need to do at this time. Take your time and i hope we hear from you now and then.

  4. I had just been wondering how you were. Bearfriend is right (she often is!) If weightloss was your main priority all the time there would be something wrong. Take your time, and I hope it gets sorted. All best wishes to you.

  5. I'm sorry you're going through a rough time right now. I can identify with the need to pull back - I've had to take time out often. Keep looking after yourself and we'll see you back when things are better.

  6. I can relate - there is a lot more to life than obsessing about a number on the scale...
I often wish I could have given myself that wake-up call oh, about 30 yrs ago, it would have saved me vast amounts of time & effort, & I might not have wrecked my metabolism so thoroughly...

  7. I think trying to be as healthy as possible within the constrains of one's reality is the better goal. I may be obsessed with the scale, but I have no husband, kids, career, etc., so that's why I can do that. You don't owe your readers anything, though I understand feeling differently. Please take care of yourself, do what you need to do for your son, and I still hope to meet you for coffee in August.

  9. You're doing what's right for you today. And family issues come way before blogging issues. I have a feeling that your better habits have ingrained themselves into the fabric of your daily life regardless of your personal circumstances.
I completely understand, and justjuliebean is so right--this blog is for you...You don't owe anyone anything.
And you have inspired me. Very much. You've made me be more grateful for blessings that I often took for granted, more understanding and compassionate for the differences in others, and you've made me a better writer by giving me constructive criticism. You may not owe your readers anything---but you're one reader of mine, that I owe a great big thank you to everyday.

You're an awesome individual...and thank you for your continued support!

    My best always
    Sean
